Background I have worked in Information Technology for 22 years, the last five as an IT Director. My key abilities are articulating IT into the business environment, aligning IT to corporate objectives, assuring regulatory compliance, risk management and implementing IT governance
During those 22 years I have proved time and again that careful strategic application of these abilities radically reduces lead times and costs, both of which are of paramount importance within the biotech industry
For 12 months prior to establishing CambiNet, I led the IT Team at Cambridge Display Technology, the first Cambridge University spin-off company to float on NASDAQ, and brought the IT function into compliance with the full rigor's of the Sarbanes Oxley Act. I worked closely with an exceptional team to introduce quality management, change control, security, and risk management processes, and instigated the necessary changes to tightly align the department to the corporate strategy in order to meet the future needs of the business
For the previous 10 years I worked at Acambis as Director of IT and played a significant role in their success, winning the respect of my peer group for introducing innovative technologies which gave Acambis exceptional commercial advantages. We introduced processes and controls to fulfil requirements for 21 CFR Part 11, Sarbanes Oxley and we were an early adopter of standards such as BS7799, ISO9000/9001, BS15000 (ITIL) and PAS56
For the first 6 years of my career I worked at an international manufacturing organisation and oversaw the implementation of integrated IT systems that enabled the company to grow from £750,000 pa to £10m pa across 32 countries using a centralised ERP system
I am a member of the Net Focus working committee, who assists with the definition of security standards and policy for British industry, and I am regularly invited to various conferences to talk on my views and experience of implementing IT strategies that support the needs of the business. I am honoured to have been voted best speaker on several occasions
